Mission Statement
The Dabbling Mum™ was founded in late 1999 on several free web hosts. As the years progressed, we continued to grow and reshape
this publication to what you see today.
We started this publication for various reasons: to find a voice, to share our wisdom, to showcase our talents, to earn an income.
But what keeps this publication going is the fact that it was started as a way to give back to parents, and others, who struggle with
paying for quality publications due to family hardships or belief in themselves...
At one time, our mission statement read:
Every once in a while a publication comes along that simply makes us feel better about our lives. Whether it's the hope of financial
freedom, direction towards fulfilling life-long dreams, the reality that we aren't alone, the understanding that someone else has
gone through what we we're going through, or the gift of new relationships, that publication offers direction, hope, grace, peace,
and joy. That is what The Dabbling Mum hopes to grow-up to be.
We suppose that still holds true today…
But more than just a place to make others feel better about their lives, we want this to be a place where parents of all ages and genders
can learn and grow and dream.
And we want to take them a step further…to a place where they stop asking “what if” and start saying, “why not?!”
We want to help parents (through educational how-to pieces and essay-style stories) understand that dreams
are worth fighting for: whether they’re to stay home and raise happy, healthy, confident children, to climb the corporate ladder,
or to grow successful, profitable businesses.
One of our favorite Biblical sayings is, "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me." It’s such a profound and
timeless statement. And when spoken with conviction, can become a very powerful tool in succeeding in this life.
Another quote which we find very inspirational was written by Cathy Duplantis. Duplantis once said, “Dreams don't come with expiration
dates.” And how true that is! Maybe life has derailed your dreams, or perhaps circumstances have caused you to slow down a bit.
Whatever the reason, just remember, it’s never to late to follow your dreams.

About The Name
The founder, Alyice Edrich, likes things to be different. Not always traditional or conventional in her thinking, she decided it
would be fun to come up with something so different people would stop and think, "Dabbling Mum? What is that? I'll have to check it
out." And guess what? It works like a charm!
The Dabbling Mum was actually thought up in two parts:
- First, "Mum" was chosen because our founder and publisher is a mother herself and strongly believes that the role of a mom is
often understated and underestimated.
- Second, "Dabbling" was chosen because she strongly believes that dabbling allows stretching of the mind—both creatively and
intellectually. Just as a child experiments and learns new things, taking what he has learned to higher limits while discarding
those that do not fit into his scheme of things, so an adult dabbles to find his or her niche in the world!
