Create A Romantic Spa
Evening At Home

All materials copyrighted

Is romance a word in your marriage vocabulary? If it isn’t, it should be. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, romance is “a love affair” and “emotional attraction”. And isn’t that what brought the two of you together in the first place?

As life takes its toll on your marriage, it’s important to schedule romantic evenings away from kids, friends, in-laws, and other outside obligations. It’s important to think, “I love this person so much that I am willing to keep the romance alive. I am willing to show this person just how special he (or she) is.” And a romantic evening in your home, on a regular basis, can do the trick!

Follow these simple steps towards a romantic evening your spouse will never forget:

Get Rid Of The Distractions

    a. Find a sitter.
The first step in any romantic get-a-way is to find a sitter. Nobody can concentrate on love and romance with children screaming in the background.

    b. Clean the house.
Let’s face it, a dirty house a romantic wife does not make! If you’re the husband setting up this romantic interlude, hire a housekeeper or clean the house yourself. If you’re the wife setting up this special evening, enlist the help of your kids, or do it yourself. Just don’t leave the house a mess because it will spoil the mood.

    c. Order in.
There’s no need to dirty a clean kitchen. Your evening is about rest and relaxation, so have your food delivered and leave the clean up to the restaurant.

    d. Turn on the answering machine.
There’s no reason to answer the phone while you’re rediscovering what it’s like to spend one-on-one time with your spouse, so let the answering machine handle your calls, you can always return those calls tomorrow.

Set The Ambience
The overall mood of the evening is important, so go out of your way to set the right tone.
  • The Bedroom.
    • Draw the curtains,

    • Place flower petals all over the freshly made bed,

    • Turn on your spouse’s favorite slow music,

    • Light a few candles (Try our wickless candles),

    • Place two wine glasses and your favorite drink on the bed stand, and

    • Mist the room with your spouse’s favorite scent.

  • The Talk.
    • Leave talk about the stresses of life outside the bedroom door.

    • Bring up happy memories filled with laughter.

    • Tell your spouse all of his (or her) good qualities while leaving any hint of bad quality unsaid.

    • Take your spouse’s hand and dance to the slow music, as you get in touch with what it’s like to be in each other’s arms again—without having to rush off here or there.
Prepare The Home Spa Treatment
What you do with your evening is entirely up to you, but nothing brings two people closer than a little caressing and tender touching.
  • Relax in a foaming bath. Fill the tub with warm water and one teaspoon of your favorite scented foam bath, then close your eyes and soak in the warm, luxurious fragrance.

  • Scrub away the tension of the day with an aromatherapy scrubbing salt. (Lavender’s been known help quiet the mind and prepare the body for rest.)

  • Massage sore muscles with a sensually scented massaging oil. The sensual oils are sure to help put the body in a nice, relaxing state.
Finally, when it comes to enjoying a romantic evening at home, remember these parting tips: don’t rush the evening, don’t set your expectations too high, leave past hurts in the past, and just be in the moment.
