Review
Up until last month (March 2006), I had never heard of Tamara Leigh. But then I received an email from her public relations expert, and
her book, Stealing Adda , showed up on my doorstep.
I had every intention of reading the book as soon as it arrived, but my mother passed away and reading was the last thing on my mind. A
week later, I was on a four hour flight to California, for my mother’s service, so I brought the book along.
After a little chit chat with the gentleman next to me, and an hour of entertaining my 11-year-old daughter, I decided I needed a
distraction before the flight attendant would need to remove me from my seat, for disturbing the peace.
As I began reading Stealing Adda—a novel, my daughter asked me to read aloud to her. Two hours later, we were a third of the way through
the book and she asked that I not continue to read the book without her.
A week later, we were driving back home in my mother’s car—my husband behind the steering wheel, and my daughter and I in the back seat,
reading Stealing Adda. The next thing I knew, we were in Utah and the book was finished.
Stealing Adda—a novel has it all: wit, charm, humor, romance, and even conflict.
Plot
Adda Sinclaire is a historical romance author with several best sellers under her belt, but with a strong case of writer’s block, her
latest novel is nowhere near ready for its fast approaching deadline.
With a bitter divorce barely behind her, Adda’s agent suggests she start dating again; after all, a little romance in Adda’s life will
surely end her writer’s block. But Adda isn’t so sure romance is what she needs.
In her search for “something more” she’s visited by two evangelists, one of whom leaves her with a little leather bound book; the New
Testament of the Bible. Inside the Bible, the owner has jotted down several notes with scripture references, references that Adda later
leans on for her own personal healing.
As Adda meets with her agent to discuss her writer’s block, she runs into the thorn of all thorns, Birgitta Roth. Birgitta, a.k.a. Stick
Woman, who not only stole Adda’s husband and flaunted her romance in front of their colleagues, but is now flaunting her new publishing
deal in front of Adda—with the very publisher Adda’s pitching a deal to.
Adda and her new publisher, Nick Farnsworth, begin a forbidden romance that causes Birgitta’s blood to boil. Accusing Adda of plagiarism,
Birgitta’s sales skyrocket as Adda’s world crumbles around her.
What happens to Adda’s writer’s block? Does she find everlasting love with Nick? Will she be saved from the perils of lawsuits,
name-calling, and the legal ramifications of being called a plagiarist? I’m not going to tell! You’ll have to pick up a copy of
Stealing Adda
to find out!
Lesson Learned
Stealing Adda—a novel is filled with real-life issues and comical mishaps. The betrayal of Adda’s husband, and the taunting, by
Birgitta, that simply won’t go away leaves Adda bitter, angry, and unable to trust.
But, after rummaging through that little leather bound book, and meeting a wonderful Christian woman, in Nick’s daughter, Adda begins to
find answers that lead her towards healing and in the process, helps her become a better person—including the drop of negative nicknames.
Whether you’re a new writer looking for an inside glimpse into the world of publishing, or a Christian struggling with recent hurts,
Stealing Adda—a novel is sure to remind you of the magic of having faith in God and the healing found in words written thousands
of years ago, in a little book called, The Holy Bible.
As you begin to work through personal pains, I encourage you to remember the true meaning of forgiveness and find ways to release those
hurts before they take over and prevent you from living the life you were meant to live!
