The Plot
Shaggy and Scooby are kidnapped on their way to Paris and used as bait to draw out the Abominable Snowmonster. It’s up to the rest of
the Mystery Inc. gang to save them all.

The Review
Professor Jeffries is on a mission to find Shangri-La, a lost kingdom deep within the Himalayans. But he cannot do it alone, so he
enlists the help of a guide—a guide who unfortunately is no match for the Abominable Snowmonster!
Meanwhile, as the gang boards a plane to Paris, France for a much needed vacation, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo accidentally board the wrong
plane—a diving plane. After free-falling into the Himalayans, they’re kidnapped by a big game hunter and used as bait to capture the
Abominable Snowmonster.
But just when things appear to go from bad to worse for Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, their buddies: Velma, Freddie, and Daphne, arrive to save
the day.
In true Mystery Inc. form, the gang joins forces to solve the mystery behind the Abominable Snowmonster, which of course means they
chase the Abominable Snowmonster, he chases them, and somewhere in the midst of all the chasing, they manage to discover the truth.
In the end, I give Chill Out Scooby Doo, “two paws up”!
I simply love anything to do with Scooby-Doo and believe that as long as they stick to a proven formula, they can’t go wrong. That being
said, it would be a nice surprise to Scooby-Doo fans everywhere if they’d simply spiced things up a bit. I’d love to see a little more
complexity in the chases so that we don’t figure things out so soon in the plot.
Your Task
After you watch Chill Out Scooby Doo! ask your children to use their imaginations. How would they have rewritten the ending? Then give
them a piece of paper and ask them to write their first “fan fiction.” When they’re done, call up a long distant grandparent and read
the story over the phone. Finish the night with a chilling bowl of ice cream!
