The other day someone said to me, "I didn't know you designed cards, too!" That took me by surprise because I thought I had made it pretty clear that I am a creative who makes her living writing and selling art on products, like postcards. But upon reflection, I realized that I hadn't made it known. I still refer to myself as a writer who dabbles in art... and often times, I don't mention the art aspect of my business and hope they'll figure it out when they arrive here. Not a good way of doing business, that's for sure! The next time someone asks what you do for a living, don't be afraid to share your new projects with them... otherwise, you could be leaving money at the table.
